ALISON WALDMAN
|
Alison Waldman is a movement artist, wellness educator, people person, and an endlessly curious collaborator with a superpower for getting even the most skeptical to move and groove. She believes that access to wellness is a foundational human right, and wearing leggings or being on a yoga mat is not required to harness it.
An artist at heart, Alison brings her formative training in dance and music to her work. Her perception of an inextricable connection between creativity and wellness is at the core of her work and she sees the dancer inside every person – no matter their mobility, age, or background. Alison is certified by the Yoga Alliance (RYT-200) and Accessible Yoga. Her training includes trauma informed yoga, Yoga Nidra, yoga for seniors, chair yoga, and bed yoga as well as Dance for PD and Movement for MS. She proud member of the Yoga and Body Image Coalition. |
Alison serves as a Movement Artist in Residence at the Georgetown Arts and Humanities Program at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital where she leads staff wellness and patient mindfulness programming, on-site dance encounters, and their Movement for MS collaboration with the Department of Neurology. She is also on faculty at the Jewish Mindfulness Center of Washington.
When she’s not moving with her clients Alison can be found tinkering with her sourdough starter and preparing to defend her two-time win of the DC State Fair Bread contest, taking walks with her dog Sesame, and being an audience member.
